PBT Upgrading E-mail Infrastructure – Improved Performance and Reliability
On April 26th, 2008, PBT will be enhancing our e-mail services by installing a new system that will offer you more reliability and better performance. As a result of this upgrade, you may notice some changes.
- PBT will lose the ability to allow customers to use the domains infoave.net and toolkitmail.com in their e-mail address. PBT does not own the rights to these domains and will be unable to support them once the cutover occurs. All subscribers will need to ensure that they have their e-mail clients configured properly. Only the following servers will be supported.
- Inbound: mail.pbtcomm.net
- Outbound: smtp.pbtcomm.net
- Alternate Outbound: authsmtp.pbtcomm.net
- Starting on April 21st, some services will be unavailable until the cutover is complete. During this period, subscribers will be unable to:
- alter their personal web space or upload/change any files in their FTP directories.
- change their password.
- add/change/delete any usernames, including the primary account and any additional accounts.
- After the cutover, some of the user interfaces will look a little different. The same functions will be available, with some added features coming in the future. For information on the changes, use the hyperlinks below. Changes include:
- A new webmail application. The old webmail platforms will be unavailable once the cutover is complete. PBT will import all folders and address book data from the current webmail platform.
- Webmail address: http://webmail.pbtcomm.net
- A new SPAM/Antivirus solution. Postini is being replaced with a more powerful solution that will provide better protection for all subscribers. After the cutover, all customers will access their Junk mail folder and settings through the webmail platform at http://webmail.pbtcomm.net. Virus-infected messages will no longer be quarantined, but will be automatically deleted. PBT will import all of your current approved/blokced senders as part of the migration. Please note that any messages remaining in the Postini quarantine will be unavailable once the cutover is complete.
- A new user utility site. The new site will provide all the user functions that the old one did, with a few new enhancements..
- Any e-mails sent to/received by subscribers will continue to be received/delivered before and after the cutover. Please be aware that there may be a brief interruption in mail flow during the actual cutover.
- Passwords will become case sensitive once the cutover is complete. Please take note of this when changing your password after the cutover date.
- PBT automatically assigns DNS (Domain Name System) information from the server. However, some customers have manually configured DNS server addresses into their systems. PBT will lose the ability to use the old DNS servers sometime after the E-mail migration. Please make the appropriate corrections if you have manually configured DNS servers. Only the following servers will be supported.
- Preferred DNS: 208.104.244.45
- Alternate DNS: 208.104.2.36
